This session will give you an update on imminent changes in the new tax year to allow you to prepare and highlight key points to be aware of ready for 6 April.

 The update will cover the following topic areas:

  • Personal tax changes coming in 2022-23 including NIC increase, dividend tax and Scottish and Welsh income tax changes; end of working from home tax deduction;
  • Issues for employers to watch : NIC increase and messages on payslips; relief for ex service personnel; minimum wage rate changes; current minimum wage compliance topics; benefits and expenses – any changes for 2022? Thinking about payrolling benefits?
  • Corporation and business tax – any changes to be aware of; looking forward to 2023 and the corporation tax increase; capital allowances points
  • VAT : penalty delay; MTD roll out; quick update on other VAT points
  • Any other tax changes to be aware of for 2022

Rebecca Benneyworth

Rebecca is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. She is a lecturer, writer and consultant on a variety of taxes, lecturing extensively throughout the UK, to accountants, business people and also to HMRC and the Treasury. She has her own accountancy practice based in Gloucestershire, with a variety of small business and personal tax clients.

During the last two years, this has become a 100% digital practice. She is Chair of the HMRC Digital Advisory Group, providing help and support to HMRC in understanding the challenges that Making Tax Digital presents to small businesses and their advisers.

She is also a member of the Admin Burdens Advisory Board, an independent advisory group to HMRC monitoring the burdens which the tax system imposes on businesses.
