In this course Rebecca Benneyworth takes you through all of the current areas of tax where planning ideas crop up. She sets the scene with a brief reminder of the technical background and then develop areas where you can fruitfully look to give clients useful advice that may save them and their businesses some tax. 

 

In this session Rebecca covers the following topics;

 

  • Incorporation – or not? What are the thought processes at the moment and in the medium term? Should we be pulling clients out of limited companies and how difficult is this?
  • New small profits marginal relief – how does this affect profit extraction strategies? What ideas can we explore with clients for tax efficient extraction of profits? And how do we deal with the admin of all this?
  • Managing associated companies to best effect. Where to look and what to do?
  • Planning issues with basis period reform and why you need to talk to partnerships in particular.

Rebecca Benneyworth

Rebecca is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. She is a lecturer, writer and consultant on a variety of taxes, lecturing extensively throughout the UK, to accountants, business people and also to HMRC and the Treasury. She has her own accountancy practice based in Gloucestershire, with a variety of small business and personal tax clients.

During the last two years, this has become a 100% digital practice. She is Chair of the HMRC Digital Advisory Group, providing help and support to HMRC in understanding the challenges that Making Tax Digital presents to small businesses and their advisers.

She is also a member of the Admin Burdens Advisory Board, an independent advisory group to HMRC monitoring the burdens which the tax system imposes on businesses.
